NEWRIVER SUES MORNINGSTAR ON COMPETITION AND ACCESS ISSUES

ANDOVER, Mass. – Electronic investor disclosure services provider NewRiver Inc. has sued Morningstar Inc. in Massachusetts state court, alleging unlawful access to its Prospectus Express web-based data warehouse and unfair competition related to NewRiver’s Prospectus Express product.

Morningstar is a global, independent investment research firm. NewRiver, founded in 1995, serves more than 100 of the largest financial companies globally, including five of the top 10 brokerage firms and three of the top 10 retirement plan providers in the US, and monitors 6 million data points from more than 24,600 fund CUSIPs through its patent-pending automated process.
