CHI-X POSTS FIRST QUARTER TRADE VOLUME GAINS

LONDON – Pan-European equity multilateral trading facility Chi-X Europe Ltd. reported an increase in number of trades, share volume and turnover for the first quarter of 2008, compared to the previous quarter.

 

Chi-X handled 6.6 million trades in the quarter, a 176 percent increase over the fourth quarter; share volume of 6.6 billion shares, an increase of 256 percent over the previous quarter; and turnover of €74.3 billion ($116.6 billion), 115 percent over the previous quarter.

 

Chi-X Europe offers trading, clearing and settlement for the component stocks of the FTSE 100 (British), CAC 40 (French), AEX 25 (Dutch), DAX 30 (German), SMI 20 (Swiss), OMX Stockholm 30 (Swedish) indices.

 

For March 2008, Chi-X reported that 45 percent of trades were executed inside the primary market spread; and an average price improvement of 2.76 basis points.
