SIX SWISS EXCHANGE COMPLETES CONSOLIDATION OF MARKETS

Posted May 4, 2009

ZURICH – The SIX Swiss Exchange Ltd. has migrated trading of blue chip shares previously conduced in London through SWX Europe Ltd. to its trading venue in Zurich.

The migration completes a plan by SIX Swiss Exchange announced in November 2008 to consolidate trading of all Swiss equities under its overall umbrella. The blue chips previously traded on SWX Europe in London will constitute the newly created “Swiss Blue Chip Segment” of the SIX Swiss Exchange.

The consolidation will reduce trading costs, according to the exchange, and increase the strength of its position among competing securities exchanges. The restructuring will afford trading participants administrative and technical advantages, and issuers will benefit from a reduction of complexity.
