FRANKFURT – The Bulgarian Stock Exchange today began trading using Xetra, an electronic trading system provided by Deutsche Börse Group.

“We are pleased to be able to offer the Bulgarian Stock Exchange the reliability and speed of our high-performance trading system and thereby increase the international competitiveness of the Bulgarian market,” says Frank Gerstenschläger, member of the Executive Board of Deutsche Börse and responsible for the cash market.

Deutsche Börse has a five-year contract with the Bulgarian exchange to provide technical market control and organize trading of about 500 securities listed on the exchange. Deutsche Börse will also calculate and license Bulgarian indices such as SOFIX, BG 40 Index, BG TR30 Index and BG REIT, and deliver real-time Bulgarian Stock Exchange market data in the form of three new information products to be distributed through CEF data feeds.

Bulgarian exchange participants will be able to trade more than 330,000 instruments listed on Xetra. Deutsche Börse is supporting the development of the Bulgarian capital market by offering international investors this access.
